Our history
2004
Company founded
Sitoo was originally founded in 2004 under the name Effective Studios. Back then as a PC software.
2010-2012
Sitoo get it's name
Inspired by the Italian word for "website", Effective Studios was rebranded to Sitoo. Two years later Sitoo transformed into a dedicated e-commerce platform.
2015
Sitoo becomes Sitoo
We launch the first version of Sitoo POS, as an e-comm add-on, marking the true beginning of our journey as a leading retail technology provider.
2016
Further evolution
The first version of Sitoo Unified Commerce Platform was launched, featuring an open API and multi-transactional warehouse capabilities.
2017
Native app
Sitoo POS was rebuilt as a native app and the self-checkout mode for iOS was introduced, enhancing the in-store experience.
2018
Best-of-Breed approach
Discontinuation of the e-comm platform enabled 100% focus on the POS and UCP, what we call the "best-of-breed approach". Now signing larger international chains.
2019
New office locations
Sitoo POS goes live in 10+ countries, opening the first UK office and relocating the Swedish HQ to Urban Escape, to support growth of the company.
2020
UK Expansion
UK expansion continues, signing major brands like Lyle & Scott and Sunspel, while onboarded 60+ new retailers in the middle of the pandemic.
2021
Recognised by Gartner
We're recognized by Gartner for the first time, and live in 20+ countries across Europe, the Middle East, North America, and APAC.
2022
MACH Alliance member
Growing into new markets, while opening the first Danish office in Aarhus. Same year we became members of the MACH Alliance.
2023
ISO Certified
In 2023 we achieved ISO certification, a big milestone for the company expanding to the US, with our first US Enterprise Retailer, Rally House.
2024
SOC2 Type II certified
Attained SOC2 Type II certification, and moved our Swedish HQ to Kungsgatan 18 to accommodate even further future growth and expansion.
